At Sombrerería Mil, we pay an exclusive tribute to the history of Barcelona with the artisanal recreation of the hat that occasionally accompanied the famous architect Antoni Gaudí (1852–1926), the greatest exponent of Catalan Modernism and creator of icons such as the Sagrada Familia and Casa Batlló in Barcelona.
Our recreation is not a mere visual approximation, but a rigorous exercise in historical reconstruction based on an archived document: the original template of Antoni Gaudí's head shape. This valuable manuscript, dated April 29, 1886, by the renowned Barcelona hatmaker Eduardo Arnau, certifies an exact measurement of 56 centimeters and describes the architect's cranial structure as "perfect in both measurement and configuration."
Using period molds and original technical annotations, we aim to recreate this hat, crafting it with hair felt, notable for its structured crown and a wide grosgrain ribbon with a side bow.
It is much more than a high-end hat accessory; it is a timeless, sober, and sophisticated work of art.
